Main Street & More... Isanti County
Main Street & More … Isanti County” is a video collection of business perspectives and memories collected from Isanti County residents about the main street businesses of Cambridge, Grandy, Braham, and Isanti.
In the fall of 2010, the Isanti County Historical Society received a Legacy Grant through the Minnesota Historical Society to collect oral history and memories of Isanti County residents who were business owners, did business in the county, or had other information related to business. The interviews would then be transcribed and added to our archives. Focusing on the three cities in our county of Braham, Cambridge, Isanti, and Grandy the grant was called Main Street & More … Isanti County. After 21 interviews were obtained and edited, a 25-minute composite video was made and premiered at the Annual Meeting on May 5. The meeting focused around a 1950s theme and was great fun for all who attended. The Main Street & More grant was funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the Legacy Amendment vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008. Full videos interviews are available for viewing and purchase at the Isanti County Historical Society. There is also an exhibit available for viewing on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm until the end of summer at the Heritage Center. |
